After School Astronomy Clubs This site by NASA is designed for after school astronomy clubs however the activities and resources can be used in the general classroom for astronomy studies. Includes topics such as space flight, the solar system, Earth, and astrophysics. American Physical Society - Century of Physics Developed by the American Physical Society in celebration of the 100th birthday of the Society. The site, based on a database of more than a thousand scientific tells the story of physics in the 20th century. The main section of the site, Timeline, provides chronological overview of events, from 1900 to 2000. Applied Physics, Dan Russell Dan Russell is an Associate Professor of Applied Physics, at Kettering University Michigan, this site includes a range of resources and links related to acoustics. Material includes online learning material from a Minor in acoustics, explanations of acoustics and vibrational behaviour of a variety of items including wood, guitars, animations for teaching acoustics and acoustics laboratory experiments. Atoms Family The Atoms Family exhibit is online from the Miami Museum of Science. This resource contains lessons and activities relating to different forms of energy. Each is presented by a famous gothic horror character. The Mummy's Tomb: Learn about energy conservation, kinetic, and potential energy. Phantom's Portrait Parlor: principles of atoms and matter. Dracula's Library: properties of light, waves, and particles. Wolf Man's Ghostly Graveyard: fuel conservation and energy transfer. Frankenstein's Lightning Laboratory: different forms of electricity and electrical safety. Requires javascript. Something for all grades, K-12 Causes of Color Why are things colored? Explore the fifteen phenomena that create our colorful world. These fifteen causes of color derived from a variety of physical and chemical mechanisms are summarized in five groups in this exhibit. Concepts of light being made, lost or moved are explored. Contemporary Physics Education Project (CPEP) CPEP is a non-profit organization of teachers, educators, and physicists located around the world. CPEP materials (charts, software, text) present the current understanding of the fundamental nature of matter and energy, incorporating the major research findings of recent years. Charts cover topics such as: Fundamental Particles and Interactions; Nuclear Science; Plasma Physics and Fusion and History and Fate of the Universe. Cool Links to Hot Topics in Physics This is a collection of links to research and experiments in all aspects of physics research conducted by international research centres and universities. Einstein: Image and Impact The life and thought of Albert Einstein are showcased here by the American Institute of Physics. Among the great scientist's reflections highlighted is one about how a young mind was drawn to speculative thought. Einstein's Big Idea In this companion website to the NOVA program Einstein's Big Idea, it is possible to view interactive features on the history and science behind E = mc2, download audio clips of today's top physicists explaining his most famous equation, and visit the teacher's guide. Einstein Explained In 1905 Einstein discovered relativity, explained the photoelectric effect and proved the existence of atoms. All this at the tender age of 26! One hundred years later, 2005 has been dedicated as the International Year of Physics in memory of this extraordinary scientist. To celebrate ABC Science has put together a collection of many things Einstein! |
